Psoriasis, also known as psoriasis, is a chronic, non-contagious autoimmune disease that affects around 2 million people in Germany alone.
Psoriasis is characterized by red, itchy, and scaly patches of skin that often appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, and nails.
October 29th is dedicated to this disease and is known to many as World Psoriasis Day. The goal is to raise awareness of this disease, reduce prejudices and show solidarity with those affected. This day offers a valuable opportunity to inform the public about the effects of psoriasis and to strengthen solidarity with those affected. On the occasion of this day, there are often information events for those affected and interested parties, for example one was held by the German Psoriasis Association in Munich under the motto “Psoriasis – good care for everyone!” We were also represented there as a sponsor and exhibitor.
That's why World Psoriasis Day is important
Psoriasis can have not only physical but also significant psychological effects. Many sufferers experience social isolation and a lower quality of life due to stigma and prejudice.
World Psoriasis Day plays a crucial role in raising awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by psoriasis sufferers. Prejudices and misunderstandings should be reduced through education and empathy should be promoted.
Solidarity and understanding for those affected is crucial to strengthening the self-esteem and well-being of those affected and creating a more inclusive environment in which they feel accepted and supported.
World Psoriasis Day also gives those affected the opportunity to talk to each other about their illness and find out about support options.
Of course at the information event “Psoriasis: Good care for everyone!”
On the occasion of World Psoriasis Day 2023, a scientific information event was organized where those affected could attend various specialist lectures on the topic of psoriasis. There was also an industrial exhibition where those affected could get an overview of new developments and treatment options.
As a young Munich start-up dedicated to skincare that accompanies therapy, we were of course also there - as a sponsor and exhibitor. We had a stand there where we presented ourselves and our natural skincare products . We also had many great conversations with those affected from whom we were able to learn a lot. All in all, we were happy to have been there and are already looking forward to next year! Maybe you'll be there too, we'd be happy!
